I received an ad the other day from My Daily Insights advertising a home business CD by Vic Johnson who is a very well-known and highly successful marketer of motivational and self-improvement products---as well as a successful home-based business person. A statement in the ad jumped out at me which said that there is no
recession or financial shakiness on the Internet right now. He went on to cite some examples of people who are making a very good living marketing on the Internet.

And so, with the Presidential race well under way here in the U S, alongside the mud-slinging are faint echoes of campaign promises for relief from insane gasoline prices, healthcare costs, oppressive taxes, and numerous other consumer ills that seem to kep us over a barrel and prevent us from achieving any real level of success. On a side note---the very industries that have regulated consumer credit for years have now gotten in way over their heads---ain't that a laugh?

I'm working off the top of my head here, but I should be close enough for a cigar---only 1% of the people in this country end up financially independent. The rest are either dependent upon help from their families or have to continue to work. Retirement, retirement plans, and the American Dream are all just one big hoax. We can no longer depend on these things to provide security. People retire only to be faced with the very problems they worked so hard in their earlier years to free themselves from. Not a good picture.
